Associate Professor Fay Rola-Rubzen, Deputy Director for the Centre for Agricultural Economics and Development, attended the prestigious International Conference of Agricultural Economists (ICAE) in New Delhi, India on 2-7August 2024, where she presented insightful research on two pressing topics at the forefront of agricultural and rural development.
Dr Rola-Rubzen was invited to present during a pre-conference workshop on Facilitating the Rapid, Inclusive and Sustainable Rural Transformation in Asian Developing Countries, where she explored the crucial issue of Gender and Rural Transformation. Her presentation highlighted the role of gender in reshaping rural livelihoods and agricultural practices, offering key insights into the changing dynamics of rural communities across Asia.
In addition to this, Dr Rola-Rubzen also presented a second paper focusing on the Effect of nudging on the adoption of conservation agriculture in South Asia. This research, based on a project funded by the Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research, delved into how behavioural interventions, such as nudging, can encourage farmers to adopt sustainable agricultural practices, with significant implications for environmental conservation and food security in the region.
The ICAE conference, a globally recognized event, gathers top academics, policymakers, and practitioners to address current challenges in agricultural economics, making the scholar’s contributions a valuable part of the ongoing discussions on rural development and sustainable agriculture.
